McClain Lecture 2024

Join the Council for the McClain Lecture Series on Tuesday, January 23, 2024, 10:00 am. This is hybrid event with an in-person lecture and panel discussion at John Calvin Presbyterian Church in Florence, SC followed by a special luncheon honoring social justice advocates and activists in South Carolina.

This year’s theme is “Fight Voter Suppression and the Erosion of Democracy at the Polls” with Jace Woodrum, executive director of the ACLU of South Carolina, as our guest lecturer.

This series, named after The Reverend Dr. Howard G. McClain who served as the Executive Minister of the South Carolina Christian Action Council from 1950 until 1985, focuses each year on an issue of justice or unity on which the Council is working for the common good.
