Hybrid Book Study for Hispanic Heritage Month

Oct 19, 2023 06:00 PM

It’s Hispanic Heritage Month! Join us for an intentional conversation with a Latino theologian as we embrace Christian beliefs within a prophetic takeover framework based on the Gospel of Matthew’s parable of the sheep and the goats (Matthew 25:31-46). Decolonizing Christianity: Becoming Badass Believers, written by Miquel A. De La Torre, invites the reader to experience the message of Jesus without colonized lenses. Using the Gospel of Matthew’s parable of the sheep and the goats, De La Torre challenges Chrisitan whiteness and the idolatrous characteristics it holds. This book has been strongly recommended by the General Commission of Religion and Race of The United Methodist Church.

If you would like to join us in person or virtually, register here. We will meet at the Women’s Business Center on the campus of Columbia College. The address is 1301 Columbia College Drive, Columbia, SC 29203. A delicious meal will be served at no cost to attendees. Masks are encouraged. Open to the public; all are welcome.
